What you should think of when visiting the rock-cut cellars

The whole year, temperatures in the rock-cut cellars are as cold as 8 to 12° Celsius. Please put on appropriate clothing, so that you do not feel cold during the tour.

In order to take part in a tour, you should be a fairly good walker. Some stairs must be taken and the floors in the corridors are sometimes rough. Please also put on convenient and sturdy shoes.


Tours usually take 60 - 75 minutes on the average and start daily at 11, 13, 15, and 17 o'clock. On Saturdays and Sundays, there are extra tours starting at 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 o'clock.

Visitor regulation for the Historic Rock-cut cellars

The following regulation are therefore to guarantee your safety and to avoid/prevent accidents:

BESUCHERORDNUNG

Due to the special architectural and climatic conditions (8 -12° C/46-53° F) it is important to wear sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing. In spite of all the safety measures there still remains a residual risk, e.g. by tripping or twisting one’s ankle.
Guests who are obviously under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating drugs are not allowed to attend the tour. Unfortunately, we cannot accept /accommodate bachelor- or bachelorette parties.
With regard to our house rules and with consideration of the neighbors, we feel obliged not allow any events of this kind in our premises.
This also applies for security reasons for all guided tours and events, which take place in the Historic Rock- cut cellars. It is strictly forbidden to eat and drink within the facilities. Taking pictures and filming is only allowed with the permission of the NKG GmbH and the permission of the tour guide, who represents the association for the promotion of the Nuermberg rock-cut cellars. Mobile phones, MP3 players and other devices have to be switched off in order to avoid disturbing the tour guiding.
Dogs, cats or other animals are not allowed in the Historic Rock- cut cellars.
Every visitor is given a protective helmet for the Dunkelführung (“Walk in the Dark” tour) or specifically for special tours for children. When attending these tours you are required to wear the protective helmet. Children under the age of 8 are only allowed to attend the tour when accompanied by an adult. By purchasing a ticket or making a group reservation, you automatically accept the house rules and visitor regulation.
